VACANCY:
DIGITAL CONTENT & SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

Jazzart Dance Theatre, South Africa’s oldest contemporary dance company, is seeking a Digital Content & Social Media Specialist to bring our artistic vision to life online. You will create engaging content that showcases Jazzart’s performances, training programme, community initiatives and the Meraki Dance Festival, translating live experiences into compelling digital stories that grow our audiences and strengthen our brand.

1. Key Responsibilities

a. Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Produce high-quality digital content (photos, graphics, videos, reels) that reflects Jazzart’s artistic identity.

  • Translate performances, rehearsals, classes, and community projects into engaging narratives.

  • Write captions and copy aligned with the company’s brand voice.

b. Social Media Campaign Design & Management

  • Plan and implement social media campaigns for productions, events, programmes, and the Meraki Dance Festival in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.

  • Ensure visual and narrative consistency across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, website).

  • Manage content scheduling, posting, and performance tracking.

  • Contribute creative ideas and feedback to enhance campaign impact

c. Team Collaboration & Campaign Execution

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager and cross-departmental teams (artistic, production, administrative) to execute campaigns effectively.

  • Coordinate with external providers (photographers, videographers, designers) to ensure timely delivery of content.

  • Provide social media metrics and audience insights to inform campaign optimisation.

  • Ensure content meets deadlines, quality standards, and brand guidelines, supporting a cohesive approach across teams.

d. Audience Engagement & Analytics

  • Monitor social media interactions and foster a positive, engaged online community.

  • Analyse content performance and provide actionable insights to optimise campaigns and audience growth.

2. Qualifications, Skills & Experience

a. Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, Digital Content, or related field.

  • 3–5 years’ proven experience in marketing, digital content, or communications within the performing arts or broader creative industries.

  • Experience creating and managing social media campaigns for live performance, artistic programming, or cultural initiatives.

  • Strong visual design and multimedia skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent).

  • Excellent copywriting, storytelling, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of audience engagement, social media analytics, and digital marketing trends.

  • Creative, proactive, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced artistic environment.

  • Experience in short-form video content (Reels, TikTok, IG Stories) is highly desirable.

b. Advantageous

  • Established network in the performing arts or creative sector.

  • Experience in dance or live performance marketing specifically.
