VACANCY: MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

52-year-old Jazzart Dance Theatre (NPC) is acknowledged as South Africa’s oldest contemporary dance theatre company that has, and continues, to exert a powerful influence on the development of dance in South Africa.

The company is looking to employ a Marketing and Communications Officer to develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the company’s programmes, productions and events. The applicant should have a passion for the arts and deliver activity that is fresh, impactful and engaging to drive awareness and loyalty.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and executing marketing plans:

Contribute to and implement marketing plans, identify target audiences, craft marketing messages, and choose appropriate channels for promotion.

Communication and Content:

Build the brand and tone that represents the voice of the company through press releases, promotional materials and digital content for website, social media and other platforms.

Marketing Campaigns:

Manage the development, resourcing, coordination and implementation of marketing campaigns across all key business areas of Jazzart Dance Theatre and key external stakeholders and suppliers, such as designers, photographers, videographers, printers, digital agencies, media buyers and touring presenters.

Analyzing marketing performance:

Tracking key metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and ticket sales, to assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Marketing Budgets:

Contribute toward the annual budgeting process and oversee campaign budgets.

Qualification / Skills and Experience

• A tertiary qualification in communications, media studies, marketing and/or public relations.
• Three – five years’ experience in marketing and communications.
• Experience in project management with a proven track record of delivering on objectives.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and executing innovative marketing plans with an understanding of how to coordinate marketing campaigns with sales activities.
• Possess excellent copywriting, verbal, and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms, email marketing, and other digital marketing tools.
• Administration and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a productive contributor in a small team and establish positive working relationships with staff, sponsors and other internal/external stakeholders.
